Why Birds on the Labels?
The Birds of Our Vineyard
The seasons have a pronounced presence in vineyards, and one of the most prominent features of each season are the types of birds and their activities in the vineyard.
In early spring, flocks of Western Meadowlarks fill the Namesake Vineyard — their flute-like songs accompanying bud break. At harvest, large flocks of blackbirds swirl overhead. On winter days, hawks and barn owls fly low over dormant vines.
